Lisa Desimini

Lisa Desimini graduated from The School of Visual Arts in NYC. Since then she has illustrated thirty-five picture books, nine of which she has written herself. Her books include: “My House” one of the New York Times Ten Best Illustrated Books of the Year. “Love Letters” by Arnold Adoff a Publisher’s Weekly and School Library Journal Best Book of the Year, and “Dot The Fire Dog” which has sold over 380,000 copies.

Lisa’s illustrations have appeared on over two hundred book jackets. Some of the most notable are: The John Nichols Trilogy, Animal Dreams, The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver, and most recently the covers for Charlaine Harris’ internationally bestselling The Sookie Stackhouse Series.

She has used oils, acrylics, collage, photography, sculpture and the computer.

Lisa created her new work by layering many photographs over her painted textures to achieve a surreal otherworldly look that evokes a narrative.

Lisa and her husband live in Topanga, CA.
